101 Ways to Reach Your Community
Author: Steve Sjogren
Colorado Springs, CO: NavPress, 2001, 110 pp.

If you are looking for a practical, nuts-and-bolts approach to service projects designed to have an impact on your community, your search will end with Steve Sjogren‚s book.

Obviously a person with the gift of teaching will think in terms of Bible classes and education to reach the lost. A person with the gift of administration will think of big programs with organizational charts. But 101 Ways to Reach Your Community is evangelism through the eyes of the servant.

Most of the text consists of brainstorming-type ideas to serve the community, such as ways to advertise the church as a body of helpful people. The service projects are broken down into three categories: "The Blitz," "Connecting to the Community," and "Investing in the City."

Sjogren‚s book is a great shortcut that could take the place of brainstorming sessions by the local church. Just find the people to implement the idea and build from there.
