Dennis Baker, an Oregon native, graduated from Biola University and took graduate degrees from Western Seminary (M.Div.), Denver Seminary (M.A.), and Talbot School of Theology (D.Min.). He has completed additional doctoral work at Bethel Theological Seminary.
He and Lynette, his wife of 33 years, have three adult children. Lynette is a registered nurse.
Dr. Baker was ordained in 1972 and has twenty years of experience in pastoral ministry, first as an associate pastor in Christian education and youth ministry in Colorado, Oregon, and Massachusetts, then for ten years as Senior Pastor in Minnesota.
In 1987 he became the Regional Executive Director of the Conservative Baptist Association of Southern California.
From 1993 to 1997 he served as the General Director of CBAmerica, the national association of 1,200 Conservative Baptist churches.
He serves as a Consulting Editor with Leadership Journal. Dr. Baker, the author of a widely used Pastoral Search Manual, is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and The American Society for Church Growth. He was elected to Outstanding Young Men in America and is listed in Who's Who in Religion.
Dr. Baker consults with Christian churches, leaders, and organizations as Senior Associate with Goehner Resource Group and Executive Director of NexStep, a nationwide consulting and leadership development ministry of the Southwest Baptist Conference.
