When Dave was appointed at Charter Oak in July, 1992, the church was undergoing a transition. In the previous three and one-half years, an unintentional interim pastorate was served by the Rev. Richard Sanford who followed a much beloved pastor who had been at the church for seventeen years. When Dave arrived, worship attendance was less than 225 and less than 100 in Sunday school. Seven years later, worship attendance averages over 400, with a large Sunday school, active youth and children's ministry, active seniors' ministry , service to the community, and the church at large. His continuing vision is to see Charter Oak Church as a biblically functioning community of faith, whose primary focus is on others, because lost people matter to God.
Dave would like to be remembered for: A commitment to the local church; a life that demonstrates how God can take the ordinary and use it for his purposes; faithfulness to the biblical mandate of the Great Commission. |
